Conducting a Survey
IU conducts numerous surveys to better understand and improve the environment and services available for students, faculty and staff. Past approved surveys have included topics such as the use and needs for technology services, health and wellness, faculty & staff satisfaction, campus climate, as well as student engagement. Some surveys are administered across all of the IU campuses while other surveys may only pertain to one campus. Institutional Analytics (IA) supports survey administration activities across all the IU campuses for both system-wide and campus specific surveys. IA works with each campus to coordinate survey events, ensure compliance with university and campus policies, develop samples to minimize survey fatigue, and maintain a library of survey results available for institutional decision makers.
Within IA is the area of Institutional Survey Support (ISS) whose main task is carrying out the above duties. The office has expertise and can assist with survey design, sampling procedures, building, and administering a survey in Qualtrics, data analysis, and reporting. For more information, please contact ISS manager Robbie Janik at 317-278-0640 or rjanikii@iu.edu.
